Effective and Reliable Solutions in Every Missions

Water Supply and Firefighting Pump Stations

Water supply

PURPOSE
First- and second-stage pump stations are used to deliver water into transmission pipelines and distribution networks. Ready-made units can be configured using single-row, double-row, or concentric equipment layouts.

The choice of layout depends on the station capacity, number of pump units, redundancy requirements, and operating conditions. Single-row and double-row arrangements are typically used for medium- and high-capacity stations, where easy access to equipment for maintenance and repair is essential. Concentric layouts are applied when building space is limited and compact equipment placement is required.

Pump stations are equipped with duty and standby pumps, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted water supply under changing hydraulic loads or when equipment is taken out of service for maintenance. To maintain stable operation, soft starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and automated control systems are incorporated.

The design is carried out with consideration of the hydraulic regime of pipelines, pumping head, average daily and peak water demand, as well as energy efficiency requirements. Properly selected equipment and configuration help reduce operating costs and ensure a long service life of the pump station.
THE PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
The ready-made systems use single-row, double-row, and concentric layouts for equipment arrangement. The pumps can operate in both manual and automatic modes. Start-up and shutdown are controlled by level sensors in the tanks and a pressure sensor installed on the discharge pipeline.

The standard scope of supply includes pumps, a control cabinet with variable frequency drives and soft starters, an expansion tank, suction and discharge pipelines, shut-off and control valves, and instrumentation.

Automation ensures stable pressure and flow rate control within the water supply system and provides balanced load distribution between the operating pump units. To improve overall reliability, the system includes standby pumps and redundant automation components, as well as protection against abnormal operating conditions such as dry running, overloads, voltage fluctuations, and excessive pressure. In case of an emergency, the control system automatically switches operation to the standby unit.

The booster pump station is designed with consideration of hydraulic system characteristics, operating conditions, reliability and energy efficiency requirements, as well as site-specific constraints. A properly designed pressure boosting station provides stable and uninterrupted water supply with minimal operating costs throughout its entire service life.
ADVANTAGES
  • The pumping station is delivered in full factory readiness.
  • The control box is equipped with modern electrical devices and the process can be monitored remotely.
  • Possibility of combining with a ire-ighting pumping station.

At these facilities, pump stations are used to provide process and domestic drinking water supply, supply water to cooling systems, as well as for firefighting and emergency water supply purposes.

At chemical plants, pump stations are used to supply process water, circulation and make-up flows, and are also applied in fire protection systems, taking into account increased requirements for reliability and resistance of equipment to aggressive media.

In the agro-industrial sector, pump stations are used for water supply to production facilities, irrigation systems, technological processes related to product processing and storage, as well as for firefighting purposes.

In the oil industry, pump stations provide water supply to production, processing, and transportation facilities and are used in firefighting systems, equipment cooling systems, and domestic water supply, in compliance with industrial and fire safety requirements.

At thermal power plants (GRES and CHP plants), pump stations are used to supply cooling and make-up water, ensure the operation of auxiliary systems, and provide fire water supply for energy facilities operating under continuous service conditions.
